A budget on/off unit built at the AUX factory for 25,900: a reputable GMCC compressor, built-in Wi‑Fi readiness, and a solid Russian-localized remote. The trade-offs are a loud, forceful airflow and thin heat-exchanger tubing.

Our verdict on the CENTEK CT65-S07

Centek 65Sxx Super CT65-S07 is a 7,000 BTU-class on/off air conditioner with a retail price around 25,900 rubles. These days, the very concept of a “non-inverter” in Russia already looks dated: in Europe, such models aren’t sold at all, because electricity is more expensive there and energy efficiency is taken seriously by private consumers. Here, on/off is still allowed, and for the buyer it’s the classic compromise: “pay less now — pay more on the meter later.” Centek’s “seven” is an attempt to make that compromise as tidy as possible.

The model is manufactured at an AUX plant, and the factory’s signature traits are obvious right away. The remote is classic AUX styling: colored buttons, a dedicated “heat/cool” mode toggle, backlight, a included remote pocket, and—most importantly—Russian-language labels. In terms of ergonomics, it’s arguably the best part of the whole package.

Inside the indoor unit is an almost complete set of up-to-date features for its class. Wi‑Fi is implemented via a USB pre-installation: the module is a separate dongle. The box includes one fine filter—two would be fair, but one is still better than nothing. The louvers are 4D (four-direction) controlled, although the lateral swing here is set from the remote rather than motorized.

In practice, the fan offers four speeds plus Turbo, and this is where the main nuance sits. The menu has a fifth speed, Silence, but in our measurement it’s no different from “speed 1”: the airflow is the same 4 m/s as at nominal. This is a common way to differentiate on/off and inverter lineups by “quiet operation”; in essence, the promised “silent” speed isn’t actually implemented on this model. At the real minimum speed, the unit measured 35.9 dB—about a third higher than our average (33 dB). The noise isn’t irritating; it’s more airflow noise than mechanical background. The 22 dB printed on the box doesn’t hold up in reality—but that’s a well-known story across the whole segment, not just Centek.

A lab autotransformer (Variac) showed the unit confidently holds 150 V input, but at 100 V the compressor cuts out. For a city grid that’s a normal margin; for a country house with voltage dips, it isn’t. In nominal power draw at 230 V, we recorded 772 W versus the spec 798—within measurement error, meaning the unit is electrically honest.

Inside, the indoor heat exchanger is dual-row, 5 mm copper, 12 return bends, 56 cm coil length—area 0.21 m². Assembly isn’t among the best: the return-bend brazing is uneven—some spots are neatly “robot-done,” others are carelessly hand-finished; the temperature-sensor wire is left dangling in free air. These aren’t critical, but they’re visible simplifications the factory uses to cut costs on the budget line.

The outdoor unit is executed better. The GMCC ASM-series compressor with index 95 is robust, not under-rated for nominal output, and in on/off mode spins up to full power (in inverters of the same class you often see weaker “little compressors”). Vibration is 0.18, a normal figure; by feel the operation is smooth, with no extraneous mechanical noises. The copper surface area of the outdoor heat exchanger is 0.24 m², slightly above the seasonal average, but the tubing remains the same 5 mm; there’s no reserve here for the occasional high-efficiency modes.

One less-obvious plus for the segment is line length and vertical piping allowance. Centek 65Sxx Super permits a height difference up to 12 meters—no longer a strictly “apartment” spec, but an option for non-standard installation in a cottage.

Bottom line on Centek 65Sxx Super: it’s a well-put-together on/off model with a pleasant Russian-localized remote, built-in Wi‑Fi readiness, and a serious GMCC compressor for money where many competitors install frankly weaker components. The downsides are the non-functional “fifth” speed, a noisy minimum speed with a powerful airflow, only one fine filter, and thin copper in the heat exchangers. We recommend it for those who deliberately choose on/off for a space used infrequently (a dacha, an office, a rental unit) and for whom an honest compressor and a proper Russian-labeled remote matter most at the lowest possible price.

«For the money, Centek delivers the most valuable thing budgets usually sacrifice—a serious GMCC compressor, Wi‑Fi readiness, and a proper Russian-localized remote. And it immediately takes back what manufacturers typically save on: thin copper and a not-quite-honest “quiet” speed.»Редакция «Август-Климат»
