Our verdict on the Midea MSAG3-07N8C2-I

Midea Primary MSAG3 is a straight, no-nonsense entry-level inverter from an OEM manufacturer, using R32 refrigerant. And Primary here shouldn’t be read as “the cheapest”: it’s the brand’s junior inverter range from a serious factory, not a simplified OEM spin-off. The price of the tested “7” is around 41,000 rubles, and in the “mid-tier inverter for 2025” segment it’s a very rational pick.

Visually, the indoor unit is intentionally restrained, with none of the usual promotional “gimmicks”. The front panel is solid white matte high-grade plastic, with a thin perimeter molding neatly integrated into the shape. The plastic is rigid and cleanly finished, with no flash—another sign of proper factory production rather than a cut-down OEM copy.

In the box you get a fine filter and a dust stand. Wi‑Fi readiness is implemented via a USB dongle slot in the display module, but the module itself is not included in the base package (arguably the main gripe at this price). The remote is Midea’s own: the classic dial layout, convenient function keys, a clearly emphasized power button, screen backlight, and—for the first time for Midea—Russian key legends printed on the remote body.

Fan speeds are Midea’s signature “100-step” control with 1% increments. The interesting part: at 1% of maximum speed, the unit measures airflow at 3.2 m/s. That’s a fully usable setting with meaningful air exchange, and it also forms the basis of the noise measurement: 31.6 dB—about 1.5 dB below our seasonal average. On OEM models from the same factory, airflow at this setting is often roughly half as strong (around 2 m/s), making them look “quieter” in marketing specs; here, Midea doesn’t artificially choke the fan—it actually delivers.

Lab stress test on a variac: with both 150 V and 100 V at the input, the air conditioner holds steady without compressor dropouts or noticeable changes in consumption. The electrical design has real headroom.

Inside, the indoor coil is almost entirely two-row (only the upper “front” section is single-row). Copper is 7 mm—rare generosity for the entry segment, where 5 mm is more typical. 12 bends, 52 cm loop length, surface area 0.27 m². Tight fin stack, clean brazing, external temperature sensor.

The outdoor unit for a “7” looks unusually large—this isn’t a “downsized for the range” unit, but a full-size build with a tall grille spanning the entire height. Port protection is neatly done; there’s no rear decorative mesh, and the temperature sensor sits in the protective strip. Tear-down reveals several hallmarks of straightforward engineering: the fin aluminum is thinner than on Japanese units, and there are virtually no insulating pads at all. This is offset by very tight body fit—our vibration reading is 0.20, which is a normal result for a unit of this size at elevated rpm.

The compressor is a GMCC KSK series with index 75. KSK isn’t the newest family (the more modern one is KSN, with a different efficiency level), but the chosen index is appropriate for a “7”. Metering is via a capillary tube; there’s no EEV—expected at the entry level. Double insulation jacket, neat brazing on the metering assembly.

Outdoor coil copper surface area is 0.37 m². The same 7 mm copper is used throughout, with no gaps and tight rows; loop length is 76 cm. The “indoor 0.27 — outdoor 0.37” ratio is the classic “correct” proportion that indicates a well-balanced refrigeration circuit.

Bottom line on Midea Primary MSAG3: in our view, it’s one of the best entry-level inverters on the 2025 market at this price. Strengths: premium-grade plastic with clean edges, tidy molding, Russified backlit remote, 100 genuinely usable fan speeds with honest minimum airflow (3.2 m/s at 31.6 dB), thick 7 mm copper in both units, correct coil ratio, an excellent 100 V test, and clean factory assembly without excessive insulation. Weak points: Wi‑Fi is optional and purchased separately, side louver control is manual only, and the compressor series is KSK (not the newer KSN). Recommended as an all-purpose, straightforward “7” for first-time inverter buyers who don’t want to overpay for marketing extras.

«This is that rare “7” where, at 1% speed, the unit shows 3.2 m/s of airflow—not a “fake” silent mode, but a genuinely usable minimum. And that’s exactly the kind of engineering you should be choosing an air conditioner by.»Редакция «Август-Климат»
