Our verdict on the Royal Clima RCI-FC35HN

Royal Clima is positioned as an Italian brand, and the Felicita series is one of its current inverter lines. In practice, it’s an OEM product built on the Midea platform with Royal Clima’s own customization of the casing, front panel, and remote. Retail pricing for the 35 model is around 49 thousand rubles, and for the 22 model around 39 thousand; this is a “mid-range inverter for 2025.” One thing worth remembering: Royal Clima and Royal Termo are different brands; Royal Termo traditionally makes radiators and in recent years has also entered the air-conditioning segment. Felicita belongs specifically to Royal Clima.

Visually, the indoor unit is assembled in a restrained style. The front panel is flat, and the thin molding doesn’t run the full length of the housing—at this price, you’d want that detail to look more “premium.” The color and shape reveal familiar Midea factory cues. Wi‑Fi is preinstalled at the factory.

The main—and controversial—part of the series is the remote. Aesthetically, it’s one of the best-looking remotes on the market: a black background with white graphics, large solid buttons, no unnecessary Cyrillic labels, and a precise layout. However, the control logic is built around a minimal number of physical keys: a single button is assigned four functions at once (louver up/down, left/right, swing mode, and lock), mode switching is implemented as a “slider” along the status line, and when the air conditioner is off any command from the remote is shown as Inv (Invalid). To get used to this logic, you need to sit down with the manual—and after a year of not using it, you’ll have to relearn it. There’s no screen backlight; readability relies on contrast.

Fan speeds use Midea’s signature “percentage” scheme: 100 speeds in 1% increments. Even at the absolute minimum (1%), airflow is noticeable—about 2.7 m/s—so this is a genuinely quiet mode rather than a marketing-driven RPM trick.

At the lowest speed, the unit measured 30.3 dB—very quiet, significantly below our seasonal average. A stress test on a lab variac: the air conditioner holds steady at both 150 V and 100 V input without the compressor cutting out.

The indoor heat exchanger is almost fully dual-row (the upper part is dual-row, the lower section is single-row), with 7 mm copper (generous for the class—5 mm is more typical here), 12 return bends, and a 52 cm coil run length. By our measurement method, the surface area is 0.27 m². That’s a solidly high figure, and it’s clear the manufacturer invested in the indoor unit’s engineering without penny-pinching. The soldering on the return bends is uniform and neat.

The outdoor unit is recognizable Midea “classic”: the signature grille, a diffuser spanning the full height of the cabinet, and port protection (on higher-end Midea light-commercial models, port protection is no longer used, but it’s present here). There’s no decorative mesh on the rear. A nice touch is the reverse self-cleaning mode: on shutdown, the fan spins in the opposite direction for a minute, blowing dust off the heat exchanger.

Inside the outdoor unit, the compressor is a GMCC KSK-series with index 103. KSK is an older series than the current KSN, but the 103 index for the 35 model is not undersized. Expansion is done via a capillary tube; there’s no electronic expansion valve. Vibration measurement shows 0.15—an excellent result for a unit in this class.

The copper surface area of the outdoor heat exchanger is 0.37 m². The “indoor 0.27 — outdoor 0.37” ratio is the classic balance point where the refrigeration circuit is well matched.

Bottom line for Royal Clima Felicita: it’s an engineering-strong inverter with a mixed user experience due to the remote. Strengths: factory Wi‑Fi with an app, extremely quiet operation (30.3 dB), thick 7 mm copper in the indoor unit, a classic heat-exchanger ratio, stable operation at 100 V, reverse self-cleaning mode, low outdoor-unit vibration, and a well-known Russian distributor with an established service network. Weak points: confusing remote logic (4 functions on one key, no clear visual feedback on the current mode), the KSK compressor series (rather than the newer KSN), front-panel molding that doesn’t run the full length, and a modest design for the money. We recommend it for those who plan to control the air conditioner primarily via the app, and for whom engineering and service matter more than the ergonomics of a physical remote.

«A rare case where the remote looks more expensive than the air conditioner itself—but it’s harder to operate. The solution is simple: connect Wi‑Fi and use the app; that’s why Royal Clima installs the module at the factory.»Редакция «Август-Климат»
