Overall growth and factors
The European Heat Pump Association (EHPA) reported on March 3, 2026 that heat pump sales in 16 European countries increased by 11% in 2025 to approximately 2.63 million residential units from 2.38 million in 2024, bringing the total installed base on the continent to about 28 million units. Twelve of the 16 countries posted sales growth thanks to the stabilization of government subsidies and cuts in electricity taxes, which improved the competitiveness of heat pumps compared with fossil-fuel boilers.
