France intends to double the use of heat pumps

Accelerated electrification plan

The French government has presented an ambitious plan to accelerate the electrification of the country’s energy systems, aiming to reduce dependence on fossil fuels from 60% to 40% by 2030. Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu, in a recent speech, emphasized the link between this electrification course and national sovereignty.

Heat pumps are the central element

The country is targeting the installation of one million heat pumps annually through 2030—almost twice as many as were sold last year. Lecornu highlighted the economic benefits of such a transition:

  • ✅ Cutting heating costs in half
  • 📌 Manufacturing systems within France
  • ✅ Securing tens of thousands of jobs
