KJ air conditioner series for the European market wins the Red Dot Design Award 2026

8 July 2026 GENERAL Inc. (formerly Fujitsu General) announced that its compact KJ air conditioner series for the European market has received the prestigious Red Dot Design Award 2026. The jury praised not only the model’s clean, aesthetic appearance, which blends seamlessly into European interiors, but also its consumer benefits throughout the entire life cycle—from energy efficiency to environmentally conscious design.

Special attention was paid to a design that combines minimalism with smooth lines and avoids a mechanical “coldness.” The unit’s width of just 798 mm makes it possible to install the air conditioner even above a doorway without creating a cramped feel, while preserving the space’s visual lightness. ✨

Key features of the series:

  • ⚡ Top energy efficiency class A+++
  • 👤 A human presence sensor that automatically optimizes equipment operation
  • 🧼 For the first time outside Japan, a patented heat exchanger thermal sterilization technology is used: during cooling or dehumidification, moisture inside the indoor unit is heated to 55 °C and above, which prevents mold formation and improves hygiene

The modular design reduced the number of parts and painted elements, lowering material and energy consumption in production, and the packaging has largely been switched to paper-based materials. 📦 In this way, GENERAL Inc. continues to develop regional air conditioner lineups that combine compactness, durability, and environmental responsibility, reinforcing the status of the Red Dot Design Award as one of the world’s three leading design awards.
