In professional sports, more and more attention is being paid to science and technology, yet air quality in locker rooms and training areas often remains without proper control. That is why Daikin, together with Atlético de San Luis, began implementing a project at the Alfonso Lastras stadium aimed at creating an optimal indoor climate for athletes’ recovery.
A study conducted in the locker room during the Clausura 2023 tournament revealed serious issues:
- 🫁 elevated concentrations of carbon dioxide (CO₂);
- 🌡️ significant temperature fluctuations;
- 💧 humidity levels exceeding permissible standards.
These factors directly affect players’ well-being, accelerate the onset of fatigue, and slow down recovery processes.
To address the task, a comprehensive system was developed, bringing together:
- Daikin equipment for precise modulation of temperature, ventilation, and air filtration;
- high-precision Flair IoT sensors tracking CO₂ levels, humidity, and temperature.
Integration and cloud data transmission were carried out by CYVSA Automatización, making it possible to automatically adapt system operation to the actual occupancy of the space.
After the solution was implemented during the Apertura 2024 tournament:
- average CO₂ levels decreased by 29 %;
- humidity and temperature parameters were stabilized in line with ASHRAE recommendations.
The project clearly demonstrated that properly organized ventilation and climate control are becoming an important factor affecting the health, performance, and overall effectiveness of a sports team.
