Daikin, together with Japanese company Point 0 Inc, construction corporation Kajima Corporation, and design firm Iria Co Ltd, has begun testing an air-conditioned bench designed for urban public spaces. The goal of the joint project is to verify the commercial viability of such devices and assess how in-demand they are among city residents.
Key features of the project:
- 🧊 The bench, equipped with an air-conditioning system, makes it possible to reduce the perceived temperature by 5 °C compared with normal conditions.
- During development, technologies similar to those used in modern air conditioners and cooling systems were applied.
Where and when the tests will take place:
- The device will be installed as part of the Marunouchi Street Park 2026 Summer event (Tokyo).
- Dates: from July 24 to August 23.
- During this period, the project participants will be able to collect data on real-world outdoor operation of the equipment.
All participating companies have long been developing solutions aimed at improving comfort in any spaces where people spend time. The bench trials are another step in this direction.
